You would have to look closely for one of its obscure entrances in the French
capital of Paris. But should you stumble upon one, it reveals an underground world of the dark, dank, narrow tunnels with a fascinating history. A series of ineffective decrees limiting the use of the cemetery did little to remedy the situation, and it was not until the late 18th century that it was decided to create three new large-scale suburban burial grounds on the outskirts of the city, and to condemn all existing parish cemeteries within city limits. The Paris catacombs are a 200-mile network of old caves, tunnels and quarries - and much of it is filled with the skulls and bones of the dead. However, a number of streets collapsed as the quarries weakened parts of the city's foundations. Repairs and reinforcements were made and the network went through several transformations throughout history. However it wasn't until the 18th century that the catacombs became known as the Empire of the Dead when they became the solution to overcrowding in the city's cemeteries. The tunnels also played their part in the Second World War. Parisian members of the French Resistance used the winding tunnels And German soldiers also set up an underground bunker in the catacombs, just below the 6th arrondissement.

From November 1966 to December 1967, the small town of point pleasant, west Virginia was plagued with sightings of a human-like creature with a large wingspan and completely black with large red eyes. given that the occurrences were happening in a small town, the act of coming forward to police was risky for reputations. the sightings of moth-man ended after the silver bridge collapse, which killed 46 people. The incident gave rise to the legend and connected the Moth-man sightings to the bridge collapse.
Some ufologists, paranormal authors, and cryptozoologists claim that Mothman was an alien, a supernatural manifestation, or a previously unknown species of animal. In his 1975 book The Moth-man Prophecies, author John Keel claimed that the Point Pleasant residents experienced precognitions including premonitions of the collapse of the Silver Bridge, unidentified flying object sightings, visits from inhuman or threatening men in black, and other phenomena. But the Wikipedia page makes sure to mention that moth-man sightings continue to this day, making you look over your shoulder no matter what time of the day. it is an ancient method of execution, originating in Persia. it was one of the most gruesome and torturous method of execution. the victim would be stripped naked and then strapped to the boats with the head, arms, legs and feet protruding over the side. then the victim would be forced to eat honey and milk, which was also poured all over their body and then they would be left to float in a stagnant pond. so basically the victim was killed by a combination of exposure, bee stings, burrowing bugs, gangrene and septic shock. The feeding would be repeated each day in some cases to prolong the torture, so that fatal dehydration or starvation did not occur. Death, when it eventually occurred, was probably due to a combination of dehydration, starvation, and septic shock. Delirium would typically set in after a few days.
Imagine looking at the floor of your house and seeing terrifying faces appearing. in 1971, A family in Belmez, Spain was terrified when a series of different faces started appearing on the concrete floor of the house. The faces would appear and disappear, and it was believed that it was the spirits of the former owner making their presence known.
Bélmez residents believe that the faces were not made by human hand. Some paranormal investigators believe that it is a thoughtographic phenomenon, subconsciously produced by the deceased former owner of the house, María Gómez Cámara. María Gómez, the purported psychic that allegedly produced the appearances, died on February 2004 at the age of 85 years. After her death the popular psychic researcher Pedro Amorós tried to "discover" more thoughtographic appearances in María's house. A new wave of Bélmez faces thus took place. However, Amorós' claims have been debunked in the Spanish media. In November 2004 the newspaper El Mundo published the article "New Belmez Faces Faked by 'Ghost-busters' and Municipal Government."Despite accusations of all it being a hoax, the faces continue to appear and kept record of to this day. The Wendigo Wikipedia page will likely deter you from camping in the woods by yourself. The Wendigo is speculated to be a creature that was originally human.... or as a spirit who has possessed a human being and made them become monstrous. Numerous native american tribes have legends and lore connected to the Wendigo, which you can find on the Wikipedia page. The legends are what nightmares are made of, and the Wikipedia page even lists a medical condition called "Wendigo Psychosis". which is essentially giving a medical term to cannibalism and the desire to eat human flesh despite having access to a regular food.
Basil Johnston, an Ojibwe teacher and scholar from Ontario, gives a description of a wendigo: The Wendigo was gaunt to the point of emaciation, its desiccated skin pulled tightly over its bones. With its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash gray of death, and its eyes pushed back deep into their sockets, the Wendigo looked like a gaunt skeleton recently disinterred from the grave. What lips it had were tattered and bloody, Unclean and suffering from suppurations of the flesh, the Wendigo gave off a strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition, of death and corruption. The Wendigo is seen as the embodiment of gluttony, greed, and excess: never satisfied after killing and consuming one person, they are constantly searching for new victims...... |
